Dubai Festival City – Community Garden Competition

Terms and Conditions

1. Eligibility

1. The competition is open exclusively to Dubai Festival City (DFC) residents.
2. Participants must provide valid proof of residency upon winning, including:
   • Emirates ID
   • Tenancy contract or equivalent residency proof

2. Garden Showcase

1. Participants may present their gardens through:
   • Photographs of their garden spaces, and/or
   • Brief in-person tours (where feasible)
2. The showcase may include personal gardening journeys, challenges, techniques, and achievements to inspire the community.

3. Competition Categories

To ensure fairness across different home setups, the competition is divided into the following size categories:

1. Small Garden
   Balconies, small patios, or compact outdoor spaces. Includes vertical gardening, hanging planters, and container planting.
2. Medium Garden
   Small yards, porch areas, or spaces suitable for raised garden beds, garden boxes, and mixed planting arrangements.
3. Large Garden
   Larger backyards or extended garden spaces that may include landscape features such as flower beds, pathways, ponds, or structural garden elements.

Participants will be placed in the appropriate category based on their submitted images and garden size.

4. Judging Criteria

Gardens will be evaluated based on, but not limited to, the following:

• Creativity & Design
• Overall Aesthetic Appeal
• Sustainability Practices
• Plant Diversity & Quantity
• Maintenance & Plant Health
• Efficient Use of Space (especially in small gardens)

Note: The judges’ decisions are final and not open to dispute.

5. Award Categories

Participants may be recognized under one or more of the following award categories:

1. Best Sustainability
   Recognizing gardens that demonstrate eco-friendly practices such as low-water irrigation, organic methods, native plants, or recycled materials.
2. Best Edible Garden
   Awarded to gardens with impressive, healthy varieties of fruits, herbs, and vegetables.
3. Best Garden Landscaping
   For gardens that exhibit outstanding landscape design, plant arrangement, structures, pathways, and aesthetic appeal.
4. Prizes

Winners will receive Dubai Festival City Mall Gift Cards.

Prizes may include:

• Dubai Festival City Mall Gift Cards of varying values
• Certificates of Recognition
• Gardening merchandise or decorative garden items (where applicable)

Gift Card Terms:

• Valid only at participating Dubai Festival City Mall stores
• Not exchangeable for cash
• Non-transferable
• Will not be reissued if lost, stolen, or damaged

7. Consent
8. Media & Marketing Consent
   By participating in the competition, entrants agree that Dubai Festival City may:

• Use photos and videos of gardens submitted during the competition
• Capture and use footage or images from in-person garden showcases
• Publish content on social media platforms, websites, newsletters, and promotional materials
• Share winners’ names, garden images, and award details for marketing or publicity

1. No Additional Compensation
   Participants acknowledge that no financial compensation will be provided for the use of photos, videos, or content submitted for the competition.
2. Representation
   Participants confirm that all images, videos, and materials submitted are their own and do not infringe on the rights of any third party.
3. General Terms

1. Participation indicates acceptance of all Terms and Conditions.
2. Dubai Festival City reserves the right to amend, postpone, or cancel the competition if required.
3. Entries not following the guidelines may be disqualified to maintain fairness.
