  Festival Centre hosts Car Art Festival

Wild imagination, creative skills and ingenious resources will transform an automobile into a moving object of art during the first regional Car Art Festival, which begins at Festival Centre, Dubai Festival City from April 20.

A total of 10 automobiles from main sponsor Al-Futtaim Automall will be placed in the area outside Marks & Spencer for teams to use a myriad of objects of their choice to ‘art’ up the car. Teams from Deira International School, GEMS Wellington International School, The Westminster School, Emirates International School have shown tremendous excitement at the opportunity of participating in this ‘cartistic’ gathering. Companies such as Rage, Virgin Megastore, jamjar, Crowne Plaza Hotel and Four Seasons Golf Club have also confirmed their participation.

Festival Centre, already the focal point for some of the finest community and entertainment events, expects the Car Art Festival event to be hit.

“Art cars and car artists, what we’d like to call ‘Cartists’, come from all walks of life and uphold a wide range of personal philosophies which I’m sure will be incredibly showcased during the event,” said Tom Miles, Director of Shopping Centres, Al-Futtaim Group Real Estate. As Car Art Festival was born as a community project with a cause and all proceeds from Car Art auction that will take place after the Art Parade will go to Dubai Autism Center.

The participating teams can be seen working on their objects of art between April 20 and 30 in the late afternoons and evenings outside Marks & Spencer area. Grand Art Parade and judging will take place on Friday, May 1 starting at 5pm.

The award winning Festival Centre, which celebrated its second anniversary in March this year, offers more than 400 stores, over 60 restaurants and cafés, a 12-screen cinema complex and parking for more than 10,000 cars. The daily events and festivities at Festival Centre have redefined the epitome of shopping, dining and entertainment ensuring the guests and their families are always engaged and rewarded for their visit.
